Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums Unit (GLAM)
Functions
Our unit is in charge of the university's cultural heritage. Our main responsibility is the management of libraries, but we are dealing also with historical archives and artworks.
We are located in the three main libraries and organized in four services.
Bibliometrics, Ranking, and Open Science Service:
- Reviewing and updating university policies on open access and management of research products;
- Managing the institutional research repository Aisberg;
- Supporting the management of researcher profiles in Aisberg and on the personal university page (scientific CV and PIDs);
- Centralized management of university affiliations in bibliographic databases;
- Support for ASN simulations;
- Consulting on the assignment of economic rights to publishers, transformative agreements, and licenses;
- Managing transformative agreements and monitoring APC costs for open access publications.;
- Collaborating with the Planning and evaluation service to optimize data flow in relation to the university's presence in international rankings;
- Creating editorial policies for managing publications and profiles of open access journals under the University of Bergamo's publishing brand;
- Implementing and managing a unified university platform for publishing; training on topics such as institutional archiving, evaluation procedures, research products, choosing publishing venues, copyright management, and open access;
- Creating documentation and organizing seminars on open science for both specialized and general audiences.
Development Service and Library Collection Management
- Print and electronic collection review and monitoring;
- Procuring new monographic and periodical bibliographic resources;
- Cataloging according to Italian and international standards;
- Cataloging and managing masters’s degree theses.
User Services
- Study room management and coordinating external staff;
- Managing the placement of printed materials on open shelves and in storage;
- Managing loans and coordinating external staff;
- Managing interlibrary services for users and libraries;
- Bibliographic consulting services;
- User education in the use of library tools and services;
- Managing user communication, the library website, and social media channels.
Cultural heritage and activities Service
- Inventory and management of historical archive collections and personal papers;
- Inventory and curation of university historical and artistic assets;
- Management of digitization projects for archival, historical, and artistic heritage;
Organization of cultural activities for internal and external audience;
